Mayfield Preview

Date published: 14 March 2014

After last week’s bitterly disappointing performance and result, Mayfield look to make amends on Saturday as Dewsbury Celtic visit the Mayfield Sports Centre. Despite two relatively easy games against Dewsbury last season, Saturday’s game will be far from an easy ride.

Dewsbury are setting the pace at the top of the division with two wins from two, including an impressive away win at Normanton last week.

Mayfield coaches Calland and Butterworth have had their work cut out at training this week trying to right the wrongs of last week.

One of the surprises last week was the way the Oulton forwards dominated the Mayfield pack, this doesn’t happen often and it just shows how important a strong pack is. This week, Mayfield will be hoping the lessons learned will be applied and the backs will be able to capitalise on this.

Mayfield welcome Rob Kershaw back into the squad and there will be fitness tests for Mark Biggins and Matty Williams who both missed the game last week.

Sponsors for the game with Ace Electrical are Kevin Brett and Associates along with Mayfield old boy Neil Ramsden and his Advantage Timber Company.
