Mayfield preview

Date published: 20 March 2014

Mayfield cross the Pennines as they travel to face Yorkshire side York Acorn at the Acorn Sports Centre. Acorn having come down from the Premier Division after a disappointing 2013 season and were expected to do better in this division. That hasn`t been the case so far with two defeats from two starts. Both defeats were by the closest of margins and Mayfield say there will be no complacency, they know only too well that the home side is desperate to kick start their campaign and this is the game they will be looking to do that in.

Mayfield travel with several key players missing with injuries work commitments robbing them of at least four of last week's winning line up.

Hoping to make selection after an impressive debut will be Billy Percy. The big second rower was impressive in the big win and will hope he has done enough to persuade Calland and Butterworth to give him a second game.

The forwards were back to their attacking best last week against a weaker Dewsbury pack but they will have their work cut out if they are to make the same impact against York.

The NWML side entertain Blackbrook at the Mayfield Sports Centre in Division Two of the NWML. Blackbrook have not started well losing both their opening fixtures so they too will be looking at this as the game to start the season.

Mayfield have one win and a loss to their credit and are looking to chalk up another two pointer.

Fixtures 22 March 2014
NCL Division One: York Acorn v Mayfield - Kick Off 2.30pm
NWML Division Two: Mayfield v Blackbrook - Kick Off 2.30pm
