Date published: 20 May 2014

The Bangladesh Association and Community Project (BACP), a local charity in Rochdale, organised a doubles badminton tournament which took place between 28 April and 12 May, with the finals played on 12 May at Rochdale Leisure Centre.

The tournament worked as a catalyst to bring together the people in the Bangladeshi community across the borough from all walks of life and different age groups in a spirit of fraternity and camaraderie. The teams were divided in three categories, A, B and C.
The champions and runners up in each category were awarded trophies and certificates at the EGM held at BACP on 14 May.

The champions in each category were Ruman and Mahmudul (Category A), Liton & Mizan (Category B) and Oli & Tipon (Category C).

The runners up were Munim & Foysol (Category A), Nozrul & Shawkat (Category B), Shek & Kofil (Category C).

The Chairman, Muhibur Rahman, presided over the presentation of crests and certificates to Kuaj Ali and Ator Miah Choudhury, two notable community elders, for their long, dedicated service to the community. Local Ward Councillor, Sultan Ali was present on the occasion.
