Mayfield will welcome Oulton Raiders to the Mayfield Sports Centre in Castleton on Saturday.

This will be Mayfield’s chance to avenge their only league defeat of the season so far.

The defeat happened in March, in which Oulton ran out 28 - 16 winners in the game. Mayfield were arguably their own worst enemies that day, allowing the home side to dominate and bully them after never finding their rhythm.

Mayfield have greatly improved since that game, playing some spectacular rugby. However, the same could be said of Oulton Raiders who are yet to drop a point this season.

This would be an important victory for Matt Calland and his team, if they can pull it off. Calland and Sam Butterworth have worked the team hard this week, trying to emphasise the need for eighty minutes of concentration. If this can be achieved during the game, the team will certainly be capable of derailing the Oulton train.

With almost a full squad reporting in this week, there will be some selection headaches for the coaches as they try to put out the best team for the task.
