Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club (HLRC) plays host the North of England Sprint Rowing Championships on Saturday 6 September.

The popular sprint rowing event, organised and hosted by HLRC members, will attract around 2,000 visitors from around the UK.

Invitations have been sent out to rowing clubs throughout the UK and Saturday will see the rowing clubs compete to be the best on the day.

The first race will begin at 8am and the competition will continue until the final race at 6pm.

Mike Smith, Regatta Secretary said: "It's our day to show off just what the area has to offer, crews from Trinity College Oxford, Newark, Sheffield, Liverpool to Stockton on Tees will be competing to win the cash prize on offer for the most successful senior and junior Victor Ludorum titles. In all, 27 rowing clubs will take part in 190 races involving some 370 crews."

The lake bank car park will be used by the visiting crews to build and dismantle their competition boats and will be closed to all general public vehicles.

Visitors are requested to use the Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre and Hollingworth Road car parks.
