Date published: 11 September 2014

Members of the Rochdale Underwater Hockey team were successful in the latest mix and match tournament held at Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Junior members Ali Greaves and David Grant joined senior players Garry Alexander, Debbie Alexander, Jonny Bostock, Dane Bradwell and Frank Greaves to take part in the tournament held on Monday 8 September.

Debbie Alexander played with the Krazy Krackens, who by winning three out of four games were announced equal first place winners with team Lively Lithiums who were joined by Ali Greaves.

Garry Alexander and David Grant joined forces and played as part of the Mighty Mantas who were captained by Jonny Bostock. The team came third overall.

Dane Bradwell joined the Hardy Hydrofoils and placed fourth and Frank Greaves played as part of Crafty Carvers who came last having not won any games.

A spokesperson for the Underwater Hockey Club said: “The games were all pretty close with no team standing as outright winners. The five team format worked well with player rankings getting better.”

The next mix and match tournament is scheduled for Monday 15 December.
