Molly Archbold completes one of the longest rowing races in the world

Date published: 10 October 2014

Molly Archbold has recently completed one of the longest rowing races in the world, the Boston Rowing Marathon, and set a course record.

Molly, who joined Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club 18 months ago, raced 50km in just five hours and 15 minutes in the Women’s Junior 14 double sculls, setting a Course Record for this category.

Molly and her rowing partner, Hannah Lowe from Newman RC College, were the youngest women’s crew competing in the race.

The race started in Lincoln and finished in Boston, a distance of 31 miles or 49.88 kilometres down the River Witham.

Ian John, captain of the Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club said: “Molly has been training six days a week, rowing up to 100km per week in preparation for the event – just look at the blisters on her hands if you need evidence of how hard that was! We at Hollingworth Lake are immensely proud of what she has accomplished.”
