Date published: 18 November 2014

Mayfield's Aidan Gleeson capped of a fine when he was selected for the Lancashire team to play Cumbria in Maryport.

Aidan, who played a major part in the Mayfield promotion campaign, featured well in the game and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Mayfield Chairman Simon Howe was pleased to hear of Gleeson's success commenting: "Aidan is a dedicated rugby league forward and has been at the club since he was about 10 years old.

"He currently plays in the NCL team, which has just gained promotion to the Premier Division, which is without doubt the toughest amateur competion in the country.

"He is one of a number of players who are reaping the rewards of being part of a great club like Mayfield and enjoying the benefits of being coached by possibly the best coach in the amateur game at the moment, Matt Calland.

"Aidan is a favourite of the fans with his block busting runs and has scored 11 tries and 19 goals giving him a total of 88 points.

"We at Mayfield wish him all the best and hope he performs to his best in the next game."
