Springfield Park JFC U12s 4 – 1 Shawclough JFC U12s

Date published: 10 December 2014

Shawclough were quick out of the blocks and after just five minutes hit the Springfield post.

Springfield hit back with good interplay between Reece Percell and Taylor Lawrence and Percell opened the scoring with a shot which beat the stranded Shawclough keeper.

The combination of Percell and Lawrence brought about the second goal as they played a one two and Percell slotted home his and Springfield's second.

Springfield were coasting at this stage, but a defensive mistake - a failure to clear the ball - allowed a Shawclough midfielder to hit a ball from outside the box which looped past keeper Matthew Eaton into the top right hand corner.

The second half saw Springfield dominate.

Lawrence, Percell and Joe Hoyle all had chances before Hoyle's determination got him on the score sheet with Springfield's third. The Shawclough keeper played the ball short to a defender and Hoyle's quick challenge took the ball away and he blasted it past the Shawclough keeper.

Chris Fleming kept the game very tight in defence and Springfiekd and when Shawclough did manage crosses, Matt Eaton handled the ball well and, with little to do in the second half, kept a cool head.

Springfield two changes bringing Connor Rudman on for Julian Dimbir and Tom Buckley on for Luke Walster.

The goal of the game saw Percell complete his hat trick. He chested the ball, flicked it up and twisted to volley into the top corner - a class finish to the game.
