One win, one loss for Queensway boxers

Date published: 10 February 2015

Two boxers from Queensway ABC were in action at the Macclesfield Boys club show in the Wilmslow Leisure Centre on Friday 6 February

Muavia Nasim beat Josh Farghaly by a unanimous decision but Patryk Wojtczak lost due to a highly controversial split decision.

Nasim was up against Farghaly, who came into the bout having won more fights than Nasim.

The first round was quite close but Nasim was landing far cleaner shots and making Farghaly miss.

Rounds two and three saw Nasim pick up the pace, frustrating his opponent with his slick movement.

All three judges scorecards gave him the bout taking his record to four wins out of four.

Super heavyweight Patryk Wojtczak, was coming off the back of a loss and keen to get back to winning ways.

Wojtczak dominated round one, landing cleaner shots down the middle and covering up well to block counter body shots.

In rounds two and three, Wojtczak picked his opponent off quite easily and appeared on his way to victory in what Queesnway coach, David Hodkinson, described as "a one-sided fight", however, a split decision was announced in favour of his opponent, Carter.

Commenting on the decision, Hodkinson said: "I and many of the home supporters thought this was most definitely the worst decision of the night.

"Sometimes when you are fighting away from home this is what you have to get used to but as a coach it's hard to see something taken away from your lad when he was a deserved winner."
