Springfield Park U11 8 - 0 Shawclough U11

Springfield Park U11 dominated their game against Shawclough U11. The team dominated from the start with what has been described as the “quickest goal in the history of Heywood Mini Soccer League.”

Shawclough kicked off and played the ball back to a midfield player. Dan Johnson intercepted the pass and seeing Adam James’s run, flicked the ball over the opposition defence. Adam then watched the flight of the ball over his shoulder and on the volley smashed the ball into the back of the net.

Taylor Wilson brought down from behind punished the opposition with a fantastic free kick from 20 yards out which the keeper had no chance of saving.

Dan Johnson and Adam James also added to their goals tally.

In the second half Dan Johnson, breaking from the middle of the pitch on the right, went wide, beat two players then shot across goal to bury the ball into the far top corner.

Shawclough did show some physical presence in midfield and moved the ball forwards a few times..

In a game that became increasingly feisty, Springfield scored a further two goals.

Shawclough did put the ball in the back of the net but it was disallowed and ruled offside.

Alex Cockerill in the Springfield goal saved a shot destined for the far bottom corner.

Dan Johnson was nominated as Man of the Match for his four goals.

Dan Johnson received a ‘Hat Trick Hero’ excellence award to thank him for his prowess and creativity.

Adam James was voted ‘Player of the Day’ along with an ‘Excellence award’ and ‘Unsung Hero’ award.

Taylor Wilson was awarded ‘Fair Play’.

Rayhan Hussain was awarded an ‘Unsung Hero’ award.
