Football Dreams U11 1 – 5 Springfield Park JFC

Date published: 24 February 2015

Springfield Park JFC beat Football Dreams U11 on a very cold day and muddy and sticky pitch. The game was even at half time but Springfield hit four second half goals to win.

Adam James scored the opening goal of the game for Springfield Park but it wasn’t long before Football Dreams scored the equaliser with a cross into the box low and hard to be rifled in at the back post.

Alex Cockerill made two or three very important saves in the first half that kept Springfield Park in the game.

Dan Johnson and Taylor Wilson were working the wings well with pace.

Luther Ngwenya and Will Palmer both had important roles breaking up play in midfield.

Jacob and Joshua Warrener, Jack Kelly and Rayhan Hussain all put in solid defensive performances.

Adam James posed a threat in strike.

Springfield Park were playing ping pong in the opposition box when Jack Kelly kicked the ball overhead, which the Dreams keeper wasn’t expecting, and the ball went into the back of the net.

Jacob Warrener was taken down in the box and Taylor Wilson stepped up to score the penalty.

A Dan Johnson free kick rifled past the Dreams keeper for the final goal.

Springfield Park Manager, Eugene Warrener said: “Hopefully all of the children left with a smile this weekend because they enjoyed playing football with their mates, and that is what we should always be aiming for.

“It wasn’t as one-sided as the score suggests, both teams played well. Football Dreams are a very good team who play fair, attractive football and are coached well. It was nice to have some banter on the line with the opposition coach for a change, that makes it fun for me too.”
