Mayfield U12s 16 - 10 Hindley

Date published: 23 March 2015

It was the third game of the season for Mayfield's unbeaten U12s in the North West Counties Cup playing Hindley at home and despite conceding two early trys leaving them trailing by ten points with only ten minutes of the game gone, they rallied to win.

Having fallen behind to the two early Hindley trys, a big effort was required from Mayfield and that started with an excellent move from the scrum which saw Dylan Stott put the outstanding James Downham-Clarke through to score from within Mayfield's own half.

Further good play lead to Harrison Chappell bulldozing his way over underneath the posts continuing his run of a try in every game played so far this season. A successful conversion by Downham-Clarke put Mayfield in front.

Mayfield had the momentum at this point and further strong attacking play saw Lee Wilson produce an excellent offload for Will Greenwood to score by the corner flag making the scores 16 - 10, which was how the game finished and Mayfield go through to the next round of the cup.

Man-of-the-match on the day was James Downham–Clarke, other strong performances included Chris Flemming and Ben Higginson.
