Central Lancashire Cricket League is inviting applications from clubs

Date published: 27 April 2015

The Central Lancashire Cricket League is inviting applications from clubs wishing to join the league in season 2016.

The CLL is one of the oldest leagues in the country, having been formed in 1892, and currently has 18 clubs split into two divisions with promotion and relegation.

There is a second elevens competition which runs parallel to the first elevens competition.

In addition, there are long established cup competitions for first and second teams, a more recent T20 contest for first teams, and a thriving junior section which includes teams at under 9s, under 11s, under 13s, under 15s and under 18s.

Senior league and cup matches are 50 overs per team, with reductions in overs down to a possible 20 in cases of inclement weather.

Each club is allowed one professional (they must engage a professional to satisfy league rules) and one overseas amateur, the overseas amateur being optional.

The League management committee is well experienced, most of those in the senior offices having been players, so they are well versed in what clubs and players require.

The CLL has always been open to change, and it has now been decided to try and increase the size of the two divisions from nine to 12 clubs.

Clubs interested in applying for CLL membership should apply in writing (letter to be signed by club chairman and secretary) by 18 May.

Applications should be sent to The Central Lancashire League Secretary, Mr T W Williams, 20 Millom Drive, Unsworth, Bury BL9 8NJ, email taw77@sky.com.
