Cricket League hold open meeting for clubs interested in joining the league for the 2016 season

Date published: 06 May 2015

The Lake Garage Central Lancashire Cricket League will hold an open meeting for clubs interested in joining the league for the 2016 season.

The meeting, which will be supported by JW Lees Brewers, will be held at Middleton Cricket Club on Monday 18 May, start 8pm, when the CLL will launch its prospectus.

Those who attend will be able to ask questions of CLL officials, and some leading CLL players, in an informal way.

Clubs interested in attending the meeting are asked to send along no more than three people, ideally including the club chairman and bar manager/steward.

The CLL, which was founded in 1892, has the aim of attracting six new clubs to form two divisions of 12.

The league switched to a two division system, with promotion and relegation, two years ago.

It was the latest in a long series of the CLL adapting to changes which have included being one of the first leagues to introduce limited overs cricket, and one of the first to introduce a T20 competition.

This season England Ladies player Kate Cross became the first female player to appear in the league’s Premiership Division.

Clubs wishing to join the league have until 30 May to apply, following which they will receive a visit from CLL officials.

Further information is available from league chairman Neville Fletcher on 0161 665 1181.
