Mayfield Preview

Date published: 13 May 2015

Mayfield try to get back to winning ways on Saturday at The Mayfield Sports Centre when they entertain table topping Wigan St Pat's.

This will be a tough ask for the Rochdale side with Pat's on an impressive roll at the minute. They have won five of their seven games in the Kingstone Press NCL Premier division lifting them above last week’s leaders Leigh Miners who went down surprisingly at Egremont. That said, all Pat's victories have been on their home ground and they have lost both away trips to Leigh Miners and Siddal. Mayfield will take heart from this and go into the game, as with every game expecting to do well and wanting to win.

Lost possession and needless penalties cost Mayfield dearly against Lock Lane last week and they view it as a game that they lost rather than Lock Lane having won.

Back in contention to bolster Saturday’s squad are Dave Wood and Aidan Gleeson. Gleeson is hoping to be fully recovered from his broken hand in time for the game, his blockbusting style of play has been sorely missed for the last few weeks and it will be a big bonus to see him back in the side.

Sponsors are Neil Ramsden’s Advantage Timber Construction.

After last week’s brave performance Dave Harmer is looking forward to the short trip to Oldham to face St Anne's. Anne's were on the wrong end of fifty points last week so will be looking to improve on their performance against old rivals Mayfield. There have been some great clashes over the years between these two and today should prove no exception.

Harmer will be looking to welcome back the Percy brothers, Mark Nyland and Kieran Harmer. These players will be a massive boost to a squad which performed so well at Halton last week.
