Rochdale Online Alliance Football League Cup Final

Date published: 13 May 2015

The first Rochdale Online Alliance Football League Cup Final takes place at Mayfield Sports Centre, Castleton on Friday (15 May).

The Chairman’s Cup finalists are Fothergill & Whittles and Walsden C&FC and a close contest is expected.

Fothergills have won the League Championship Trophy for the first time in their history and Walsden finished runners up as the title race went to the wire.

In their three encounters this season to date there has been little to separate them.
A 3-3 draw at Whittles Park back in February has been followed up by two fascinating encounters at Firgrove ; Fothergills edged the first 3-2 in the return league fixture, after being two down, and the President’s Cup quarter final went to penalties after Fothergills had equalised in the dying seconds of normal time. This time, however, Walsden were not to be denied and exacted a measure of revenge for missing out in the title race.

Admission is £2 adults and £1 concessions payable on the gate and the final kicks off at 7pm.
