Parkrun Watergrove one year anniversary

Date published: 26 May 2015

Parkrun, which takes place at Watergrove every Saturday at 9am, celebrates it's first birthday on 6 June.

The event has seen almost 600 runners of all ages and abilities turning up over the year to enjoy a free, timed, 5k run.

The Parkrun is part of the Link4Life Activ8te Me programme. Activ8te Me Co-ordinator, Sarah Shard said: ‘‘The activ8teme programme has been a huge success. Since it was launched in September 2013, almost 5,000 people/adults have taken part in fitness and sports sessions throughout the borough. Over 100 different sessions have been delivered and there has been very positive feedback from the local people who have benefitted from this."

This is the only Park Run in Rochdale and is supported by Link4Life’s Activ8te Me Athletics Programme. Link4Life offered financial support to cover the initial set up costs for the parkrun and also offered practical volunteer assistance on a weekly basis to support the event.
