FCPC judo team win seven golds, one silver and four bronze

Castleton's Full Contact Performance Centre's Judo Team recently had a successful weekend at the North West 2015 Closed competition bringing home an outstanding haul of medals: seven golds, one silver and four bronze.

The squad members made the short trip down the M60 to Wilmslow for the event, which attracted the best judo players.

By the time the action started it was standing room only in the venue and the team did not disappoint.

Head Judo Coach Derrick Cullen said: "We expected good results but I was blown away by the performance of the entire team.

"We had prepared extensively for every eventuality however, as a young team we are relatively inexperienced in completion and I was concerned about nerves as this was a relatively large event.

"I needn't have worried, as the team supported each other and everybody rose to the occasion.

"I couldn't have been prouder as they carved their way through the opposition with skill and tenacity, most reaching the later stages and all receiving medals."
