Norden go top of the league

Date published: 11 August 2015

Norden went to the top of the Central Lancashire League on Saturday when they took four points from their match against Littleborough at Hare Hill.

They blasted a total of 279 for one.

Simon Harman was the man out – for 90.

Daniel Salpietro hit an unbeaten 130, and Rehan Udwadia was unbeaten on 44.

Clinton Perren and Gary Hulme gave Boro a good start to the reply, but Boro suffered a blow when Hulme had to retire injured for 21, and soon after Chris Schofield was caught behind by stand-in keeper Greg Tattersall.

Nine runs later Perren was caught by usual keeper Ash Gowers – fielding in the slips, and Zimmy Khan was next to go, caught behind by Tattersall.

The task was virtually hopeless for Boro, but Matthew Taylor hit 31 before being bowled by Chris Hartley, Joe Barnes scored 21, and Michael Burns was unbeaten on 32 as the overs ran out with the score on 211 for seven.
