Rochdale Men's Hockey Club seconds 13 - 0 Leyland & Chorley

Date published: 12 October 2015

With Rochdale seconds sitting joint top after last week's win, a great performance this week against Leyland & Chorley consolidated their position.

Once Bjorne Brauns had opened up the scoring and then going on to complete his hat-trick, there was no looking back and the flood gates opened.

By half time Rochdale were seven goals ahead and the game was well and truly over as a contest.

Often in these kind of games the second half doesn't live up to the first, but this was the exception and Rochdale went on to score another six in the second half.

The other goals coming from Scott Hempsall-Jones (4), Imran Ansari (2), Dean Close (2), Luke Robinson and Fred Stock scoring his first ever league goal.

This kept Rochdale joint top, but now with a plus 13 goal difference, which come the end of the season could be invaluable.

Skipper Karl Wynn commented: "With an away game at Blackpool next week and then facing the current second and then third place teams back-to-back, the next few weeks could be crucial to the final league table."
