Innerwheel Egyptian Evening

Date published: 24 January 2006

"Following the example of Howard Carter and Lord Carnavon, Rochdale Inner Wheel Club's annual social evening took the road to the Valley of the Kings. The evening's Egyptian theme was exemplified by President Lis  Kay aka King Tut and John Kay as Cleopatra: a union the Bard would not (indeed could not) have contemplated. They were accompanied to the Bella  Vista Restaurant for a good, if European dinner, by a group resembling  extras from "Death on the Nile".

Unembarrassed by a quiz revealing only a hazy knowledge of the geography of the Middle East (though a slightly more extensive recollection of  modern history and biblical plagues), all enjoyed an evening of fun and  friendship.

And providing fun and friendship is a major aim of Inner Wheel, which is part of the Rotary movement. Any female relative of a Rotarian is eligible to join Inner Wheel. Anyone interested can contact  President Lis on lis@liskay.co.uk or by telephone on 01706-376775.   As Lis says, "Inner Wheel provides a way for  women to give service to their own and to a wider community and also to extend their social circle and enjoy the company of new friends."
