Men and women from across the borough of Rochdale joined together this evening (Saturday 2 April 2011) for the annual Rochdale and District Committee NSPCC Spring Ball.
The ladies wore beautiful ball gown dresses in a variety of colours and the gents were suited and booted for the occasion, held at the Rochdale Town Hall.
Over 150 guests attended to help raise money for the NSPCC.
On arrival at the Town Hall the guests enjoyed a champagne reception, before moving up into the Great Hall for a four course meal, evening entertainment and a raffle.
Those in attendance included representatives from various organisations across the borough, councillors and friends and family of the NSPCC committee members.
The Spring Ball is the Rochdale and District Committee’s biggest event of the year.
Some of the money raised from the ball will go towards ChildLine and the NSPCC HelpLine.
Secretary Georgie Hastie said: “ChildLine is made up of mainly paid staff and some volunteers with qualified workers on every shift.
“HelpLine is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As well as phone calls they receive emails and there is a questionnaire on the website. They actually take thousands of calls per year from children, relatives and neighbours.
“The aim of tonight is fundraising and it is a social event. We hope to raise as much money as possible – it is such a worthy cause.”
