St Cuthbert's RC High School

PE news

Well done to the netball teams who played in their second county match so far this year which was against St Matthew’s. The U13s demonstrated great fighting spirit against a difficult opposition.

St Matthew’s had some excellent shooters however, St Cuthbert’s certainly gave them a run for their money. There was some great defensive work by Tavia Williams and Ellie Gillespie, who worked tirelessly throughout. Unfortunately, they suffered a 19-9 defeat but did so graciously. Play of match went to Delphine Nonleh.

The U16s had a great match against St Matthew’s. At one point it was literally goal for goal. The push to turn over their centres prevailed and the girls ended up winning their match 19-18.

It was a solid performance and more importantly, they worked as a team. The defence was just as strong as the attack and every player made an excellent contribution. Player of the match went to Lois Dismaka who tirelessly played a full match at centre.

Congratulations to the Under 12 girls’ football team who participated in the Rochdale School’s cup. They managed 4th position overall. Special mention must go Imogen Marshall and Teegan Smithies who scored many goals and showed tremendous perseverance in the cold conditions.
