Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 15 January 2016

All Hamer parents are welcome to join us for tea and toast on Tuesday 19 January, when Mrs Coward & Mrs Bennet will be holding a drop in session for all parents. It will be at 9.00am and we would love to hear your views about Hamer school and also Jill the Health Trainer will be here to discuss any health issues.

Please can all parents ensure that any child attending booster classes are collected by a parent also a reminder to all parents that at no time will a child be allowed to leave with an adult who is not on the contact list. If parents wish to add or remove anyone on the contact form anytime this can be done in the school office in person only.

Miss Mullane and Mrs Ali accompanied our innovative group of children to Marland Hill on Wednesday, to work with our community-minded colleagues there. The children were able to explore the kinds of people and job roles that would be required to make a cohesive community with the aim of identifying key skills in society and nurturing an appreciation of difference.

Our talented KS2 Maths group went out Friday 15 January, with Miss Timperley to Marland Hill school to experience greater-depth challenges in order to extend their Maths thinking skills with likeminded children from across the 11 IPLCN schools.

Hopefully, the children are coming home and talking about their progress within our new Assertive Mentoring Assessment and Teaching system. It would be helpful for parents to ask their children how they are doing with this and to check if they understand the system well enough to explain it at home. If there is any doubt, can parents, please feel free to ask for more information from your child’s class teacher; they will be happy to talk this through.
