Oulder Hill Community School and Language College

Date published: 14 June 2011

Oulder Hill School and Sandifords Gallery on Drake Street are joining forces this summer. Mr and Mrs Sandiford have very kindly offered the use of part of their premises to allow us to showcase our students’ art, textiles and technology work. The Exhibition is free and will feature some amazing and innovative work done by our students. If you and your children are in Rochdale over the summer holidays and want to see something different, do visit the gallery – it really is a must see this summer.

Everyone is welcome to visit the gallery and see the work of our fantastically talented students. The exhibition will run from Thursday 14 July and will be displayed throughout the summer until 31 August.

Just a reminder that GCSE and A level exams are well underway now and students that are involved in these should be revising thoroughly. We would be most grateful for any support parents and carers can provide in helping their children prepare for these exams, by discussing their work with them and also helping them to revise.

A huge “well-done” to our Under 15s cricket team for a superb performance in beating Siddal Moor last week, in the Rochdale Schools’ Competition. Oulder Hill batted first, putting a competitive 118 runs on the board. In a tense chase, Siddal Moor played well but we managed to restrict them to 106, meaning that they were 13 runs short of their target. Man of the match was the impressive Dominic Fawcett, for his unbeaten 62 runs – well done Dominic, and congratulations to the rest of the team who were Abnaan Ali, Sam Fitton, Daniel Buckley, Khawaja Sheikh, Jack Simpson, James Grant, Robert Heath, Adam Ahmed, Joe Mitchell, Jack Chantrey and Saad Khan.

Continuing the sporting theme, we would like o congratulate the Years 7 and 9 rounders teams, who both beat Kingsway Park last week. They Year 9 team triumphed by a massive 25 points to 4 – the team in full were Taylor Wolfenden, Molly Crabtree, Abi Spruce, Chloe Cunningham, Gabby Hampson, Jess Bogusz, Jade Lindsay, Sophie Byrne, Alivia Marshall, Aroosa Hussain, Clarissa Barker and Amy Stewart.
