Pupils charity walk raises £500

Date published: 21 July 2014

Thank you so much for all the generous support – we are always blown away by the kindness when we organise charity events. The Hamer Community Primary School Key Stage Two children enjoyed the walk up to Hollingworth Lake and back again – including the picnic lunch. Although we did have a drop or two of rain we didn’t get too wet!

The children in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One also took part. They did their walk and had their picnic lunch on the school grounds. As you know, all donations will be going to Barnardo’s – so far we have raised in excess of £500! Once again thank you so much – this is brilliant.

We look forward to giving you a final figure! Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation, in particular Miss Mullane, Mrs Kershaw and Mrs Coward.

The Citizens of the week ending 18 July was also awarded to the whole school for the sponsored walk on Wednesday 16 July and raising money for charity.

The children across school have been working with our friends from Springside learning about the cultures of countries who had football teams in the World Cup. The learning and activities were brought together for our World Cup Carnival Lunch on Friday 18 July. This was a brilliant event enjoyed by all.

All Reports for 2013-2014 have now been sent home. As you know, all parents/guardians have all had the opportunity to make consultations appointments to discuss the progress your child has made against their targets. Thank you to all who have taken the time to come into school.

Every week our Parent Classes are well attended. Recently the health trainer has been working with our parents and they have also enjoyed keep fit classes which have been run by Mrs Coward. The parents are delighted to report that, as a group, they have lost a total of 40lb’s in weight. What a brilliant outcome - well done to you all.

Our final assembly of the year will be at 9.00am on Tuesday 22 July. This will be Mrs Cunningham’s final assembly as Head, along with Miss Ahmad and Mrs Hatcliffe. Please do come along and say goodbye! It would be fantastic to see you all there.

The school will close on Tuesday 22 July at 3.15pm for the Summer break. The Autumn Term commences on Wednesday 3 September at 8.50am. We wish you all a happy Summer break.

For those of you celebrating Eid over the Summer – Eid Mubarak to you all.
