St Cuthbert's RC High School present Petrus with £1,163.14

Date published: 30 July 2014

Pupils from St Cuthbert's RC High School recently presented Petrus Hub with a cheque for £1,163.14.

Kathryn Ansley, Lay Chaplain at the school said that: "A big part of living our faith is how we support others in our community.

"We are proud that the pupils chose Petrus as one of their Lenten charities as it helps local people living here in Rochdale.

"They organised a variety of events themselves to raise funds including cake sales and raffles but perhaps the most unusual enterprise this year was a sumo wrestling contest, involving wearing outsize sumo wrestlers outfits, which the staff seemed to enjoy as much as the pupils."

The cheque was presented to staff, volunteers and users of the Petrus Hub Service.

This service is part of Petrus Community which is a registered charity providing residential and day support services for people in housing need throughout Rochdale.

The Petrus Hub provides advice, advocacy and a range of structured activities for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. They also provide practical support in the form of breakfast, laundry and showering facilities.
