Welcome to the start of a new academic year and we hope all our students and families enjoyed a pleasant summer holidays. Learners are reminded that they should ensure they are wearing the correct school uniform and are correctly equipped to follow school rules and expectations. If you are unsure then please speak to your head of community.

Learners in Year 7 have had their biometric data used this week and students have taken home information letters to help families understand the process and explain how the data will be used. For more details or to answer any further enquiries, please speak to Ms. Baron, our Office Manager.

Arts Award Club started this week and takes place every Friday from 2.45pm until 4.00pm in the Heart Space. The club is open to all years and allows students to achieve additional qualifications. For more details, please contact Mr. De Courcey.

Technical Theatre Club starts this week and is led by Mr Wilcock in the Heart Space from 2.45pm until 4.00pm. The club allows students the chance to learn more about lighting, sound and stage effects and use specialist stage equipment. The club is open to all years and is a great way to make new friends.

Congratulations to all the learners who achieved Arts Award Silver or Gold over the summer. We were delighted with an 85% pass rate and several students left with qualifications equivalent to an 'AS' level. We also wish to congratulate 10 students in Years 7, 8 and 10 who earned their Arts Award Bronze with a number of students from Smithy Bridge Primary School. Well done to all the learners who undertook the challenge.

Song writing Club takes place every Friday and is open to all years. This builds on the success of the club over the past few years and is led by Mr. Dalby. This takes place in G3 from 2.45pm until 4.00pm.

Open Evening takes place on Monday 29 September from 6.45pm until 9.00pm and all are welcome. The headteacher’s welcome and address takes place at 7.00pm and is repeated again at 8.00pm. We hope that families can come along and see the good work that we do.

Students in Year 7 are to receive a free new book as part of our ‘Bookbuzz’ campaign. Work is being undertaken in class in C.A.L.L. and students will be able to choose a book of their choice from a selected list. For more details about the campaign, please see Mr. De Courcey or visit our school website. We are hoping that books will be received before half term.

Letters are about to be issued for three school visits to the theatre; Ms. Wystawnoha is organizing a visit to see Rambert Dance Company perform ‘Roosters’ in October and there are two visits to see ‘Wicked’ and ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’ being organized by Ms. Williams and Mr. Wilcock. Please come along to the CEPA Office at break time or lunchtime to find out more.
