Oulder Hill Community School and Language College

Date published: 15 September 2014

Congratulations to last year’s Year 11 pupils, and their teachers, on their excellent GCSE results with 67% of pupils achieving 5 A*- C grades, including English and Mathematics. We are delighted as this year group attained the school’s highest results since the current measurements were introduced. They are well deserved by a year group who have worked consistently hard since joining Oulder Hill and had the support of their parents, and valued the commitment of their teachers to get the very best out of them.

Nine Key Stage 4 students represented the school on Saturday 13 September at the Rugby 7’s European Championships that took place at the A J Bell Stadium (opposite the Trafford Centre). The competition included nations such as England, Scotland, Portugal, Spain and Germany, and ran over two days. The pupils played two friendly fixtures during the interval. They drew their first match 2-2 with Loreto High School, and won their second game 2-1 against Altrincham College of Arts. This was an excellent opportunity for the pupils to showcase their skills at a fantastic stadium, and after the competition the students had the opportunity to meet several of the England players. The school was selected to participate due to the successes of the team over the past year. Well done to: Devon Forden, Aaron Barclay, William Moore, Charlie Hill, Jonni Allen, Jonny Armour, Kyle Dixon, Will Armour and Tri Nguyen.

On 24 September, our Year 10 Gifted cohort will visit Lancaster University to find out what student life is really like. During the day they will have a campus tour, meet with student ambassadors from the university and attend a lecture on presentation skills. This visit will provide our students with guidance about going to university and give them an opportunity to ask as many questions about university life as possible. We hope they have an interesting, informative day.
