We would like to welcome Parents and Carers of our new Year 7s to our Year 7 Matters Evening on Tuesday 30 September from 6:00 - 7:30pm. At this event we will be offering advice on the pastoral structure, how to support your child in school, understanding reporting systems and giving you the opportunity to meet and talk to some key members of staff who will be involved with your children. We hope to see as many of our new families there as possible.

On Wednesday 1 October, Year 10 GCSE Art students will be visiting Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield. They will be taken on a guided tour, and will have the opportunity to take photos and sketch the sculptures. The visit links to three of their assessment objectives: artist reference, research and development of ideas. We hope the weather is kind to them and they have a fun, educational day.

GCSE Dance students will be taking part in a Dance workshop led by a Rambert Dance artist on Wednesday 1 October. The students will be split in to two groups and participate in the workshop over two sessions. On Friday 3rd October, the students will be attending the Rambert Dance matinee performance of “Rooster” at the Lowry, where they will be able to see what they have learnt being showcased in a professional environment.

This week’s Year 9 Celebration Spotlight on Achievement awards go to: Siam Khan for his speaking work and general attitude in Italian lessons. Special mention must go to Kimberley Mellor who, this week, receives the Oulder Hill Year 9 Homework Oscar for her amazing study of an artist.

A big thank you to our wonderful staff and students who helped out at Open Evening last Thursday. The feedback received from visitors was extremely positive, including “all the children were very polite, a credit to the school” and “the people who showed us around were fabulous”. Students volunteered to help out in their own free time, so a huge thank you to all of those who helped, we are very proud of their commitment to our school.
