The Year 8 Netball team started their new season with a terrific 22-1 victory over Beech House last week. All the girls played really well, with a special mention for the two joint Players of the Match, Abbie Holt and Katie Hicks. The team were: Alana Percy, Abigail Raby, Natasha Downton, Emma Whitworth, Elise Harrison, Melissa Hardman, Olivia Hartley, Holly Fitton, Abbie Holt and Katie Hicks. Congratulations girls, keep up the good work!

The Year 7 Boys first match representing Oulder Hill was against Middleton Technology College, which they unfortunately lost 1-3. For their first match together, they played some fantastic football and the team showed a great deal of promise. There were two outstanding individual performances from Maxx Wright and Joseph Oldham. A big well done to all the boys who participated: James Warburton, Dion Parker-Minchin, Thomas Coleman, Ethan Steel, Dylan Stott, Connor Marrow, Will Strudwick, Lucas Dowd, Ryan Marshall, Christian Carney, Cameron McGhee, Joseph Oldham and Maxx Wright.

The Year 8 team earned a creditable 1-1 draw against a very strong Holy Family team. The game was closely fought throughout, with both teams having numerous chances on goal, but also defending strongly to keep the score level. All of the team played well as a unit, with special mention to Thomas Johnson. The squad was as follows: Aadam Latif, Harry Toogood, Andrew Hill, Steven Johnson, Ibrahim Usman, Oliver Godwin, Ethan Haworth, Joe Golden, Sulayman Qadir, Ryan Larkin, Daniel Collins, Patrick Hadfield and Thomas Johnson.

The Year 9 squad unfortunately lost against St Cuthbert’s. The team started promisingly but were unfortunate to find themselves behind at half time, and they were unable to find their way back in to the match during the second half. The team was made up of: Daniel Madeley, Danny Devine, Jack Turner, Matthew Greenwood, Marcus Welsby, Dayne Stewart, Deen Imran, Hayden Lewis, Thomas Tobias, Nelson McKeown, Hakeem Gbajabiamila, Emmerson Bradshaw, Jordan Parkhill, Bailey Turner and Thomas Booth.

The Year 11 Boys came up against a strong St Cuthbert’s side, and did well to hold on to a 1-1 draw. Man of the Match was Adam Rushton, who dominated in defence, and the members of the squad were: Ewan Johnson, Tri Nguyen, Buck Parker, Adam Rushton, Jacob Ellis, Corey Hill, Jake Naylor, Alex Wilcock, Morgan Stubbs, Ibrahim Al-Ameeri, Bailey Smyth and Asad Shah.

Year 10 and 11 Key Stage 4 Matters Evening will be taking place on Tuesday 7 October from 6.00pm-8.00pm. This will be an opportunity to receive information and attend workshops to prepare for the year ahead. Letters have gone home via pupils. We are holding our Year 7 Parent Review Day on Thursday 9 October. Year 7 parents are invited to attend a short meeting with their child’s form tutor to discuss how they are settling in at Oulder Hill. Please ensure that your child has made an appointment. Last week, Year 11 GCSE Art students participated in a workshop with a visiting artist, Katie King. The students learnt a variety of paper techniques including embossing. These techniques and use of media will form part of their coursework and meet objectives 1 -3. Katie has recently finished a work placement with Hallmark cards and also spoke to the students about career progression and how to present their portfolio and job applications.
