MacMillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who supported our Coffee morning last Friday. A total of £179.87 was raised. We have one raffle prize that has not been claimed – peach ticket number 9. If you have this ticket please come along & claim your prize.

National Poetry Day

All children from Y1 to Y6 performed their class poem for the rest of school this morning in the hall. The event was a great success, and I’m sorry that we didn’t have the space to accommodate parents who would have liked to come and watch. However, the performance has been filmed and will soon be uploaded to Youtube via the school website.
There is some updated information on the school website, including information which we are required by law to post on the site. Much of this will be of interest to you and can be found in the tab entitled: ‘Statutory and Other Useful Information’ and in there; most recently added: ‘Essential Statutory Information for Parents’.

Open Evening for new entrants

On Tuesday 21 October school will be holding an ‘Open Evening’ when prospective parents of new Nursery and Reception children, who are due to start in September 2015 are invited into school to meet and talk to staff and have a look round school.
The evening runs from 6.00 – 8.00 p.m.
Please pass on the message if you know others who might be interested.

Vacancies available for Co-opted School Governors

We currently have vacancies for co-opted governors at our school.
I wrote to you recently asking for nominations and I received three nominations, each from people who were currently parents of pupils at school.
Whilst I am grateful for their interest, the Governing Body would ideally like to appoint persons who are not parents, as then it would be made up almost exclusively of parents and not necessarily provide the balance of views we would like. Therefore I ask again for expressions of interest from non-parents.
A Co-Opted governor is a person appointed by the governing body and who, in the opinion of the governing body, has the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school. These skills might be in finance, or premises management or HR for example.
If you know anyone who might have skills that they wish to share with our school and who may have an interest in working with the Governing Body to raise standards and improve outcomes for all our children, then please ask them to provide a 100 word written nomination about themselves and what they have to offer us.
Please submit this to the school office by Friday 24th October 2014. We look forward to hearing from you.
