Wardle Academy’s Presentation Evening

On Wednesday 12 November, Wardle Academy’s class of 2014 were invited to the Rochdale Town Hall for a presentation evening to celebrate the remarkable success of the students who left the school in July.

Wardle Academy’s Intermediate Band welcomed guests into the Great Hall with a programme of music that they recently performed for the Remembrance service in Wardle Village and at the Brass Factor in Wetherby.

The past pupils were able to pick up their GCSE certificates whilst having the chance to catch up with their old class mates. Several students were awarded prizes for outstanding work in individual subjects including Breeze Sweetman who did particularly well in achieving the awards for Biology, Business Studies, Humanities and Spanish.

Christian Finn and Skye Wilson were commended for their fantastic achievement of 100% attendance for each of the five years spent at Wardle Academy.

Josh Parry and Laura Conway were awarded the Victor and Victress Ludorem trophies which were originally presented at the very first Wardle High School prize giving event; they are presented to the outstanding boy and girl of the year.

Other success stories include Sohail Ahmed who, as well as picking up the Religious Studies and OCR Science subject prizes, was presented with the Chris Townsend Memorial award which commemorates his incredible achievement in overcoming adversity and, through his tremendous effort, succeeding in his education.

Demi Louise Radevic was presented with the Rotary Shield by Irene Davidson, Vice President of Rochdale Rotary Club, this award celebrates the most improved pupil in their last year of school, Demi is a well-deserved and popular winner of this award.
