Rochdale Online reporter Amy Westlake visits Castleton Primary School

Date published: 20 November 2014

Rochdale Online reporter Amy Westlake paid a visit to Castleton Primary School today (Thursday 20 November) to help year six students with their lessons in journalistic writing.

The lesson, which lasted an hour, saw Amy talk to the students about how to write a news story, the questions reporters need to ask and how to structure a story.

Amy also got students to create headlines and write the opening paragraph of a story based on information given to them.

Speaking about the lesson, Amy said: “It was a really good opportunity to help the students understand a bit more about journalism. The children were all really engaging and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing.”

Year Six teacher Brent Taylor added: “It was really good, they all really enjoyed it.”
