Rochdale Schools’ Swimming Gala

Well done to the Oulder Hill students who participated in the Rochdale Schools’ Swimming Gala. Students from Years 7 to 10 represented their year groups with fantastic results.

In Year 7, the Boys came first and the Girls came first, meaning Oulder Hill finished first overall for that year group.

In Year 8, the Boys came second and the Girls came first, with both teams finishing first overall.

For Year 9, the Boys came first and the Girls came fourth, securing second place overall, and in Year 10, the Boys came third and the Girls came second, finishing second overall.

Once all the results were taken in to account, Oulder Hill finished first as overall winners by a margin of 12 points! Congratulations to all the students involved, and the PE staff who assisted on the day.

Year 8 Boys Rugby team

The Year 8 Boys Rugby team participated in a fixture against Woodhey High School at Rochdale RFC last week.

Woodhey started very well with two early tries. Oulder Hill then came back in to the game with some promising work from Mohammad Faisal and Zaki Bowden but sadly to no avail. Woodhey then came back and scored another two tries although they had to overcome a stubborn Oulder Hill defence.

In the second half, the game remained even as knock-ons started to creep in due to the minus temperatures. The eventual score finished OH 0-7 WH. A very harsh score line. Stand out performers were Muzamil Bashir, Mohammad Faisal and Harry Toogood (making his debut).

The boys really did work well as a team and are making progress, they sadly came up against a very well drilled Woodhey team.

The students who took part were: Zaki Bowden, Ethan Pope, Mohammad Faisal, Sameer Haroon, Harry Toogood, Luis Andrew, Joseph Moore, Bilal Malik, Isma’il Mackmood, Sean Crossley, Saif Zulfiqar, Aadam Latif, Muzamil Bashir and Azaan Tariq.

Christmas appeal

Oulder Hill are participating in the Key 103 Mission Christmas appeal. Form 10A have pledged themselves and their classmates to raise 1000 toys and £1000 in cash for the appeal which supports disadvantaged children across the Greater Manchester area. If you know any of our pupils and would like to help with the appeal, please pass them new, unwrapped gifts for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers aged from 0-18 years. It could be anything, of any value. The point is, it will make somebody’s Christmas. Thank you for all of your support.

Year 11 Mock Exam Week starts on Monday 8 December. Students have been revising hard in preparation for a practice run of their GCSE exams. We wish them all the best of luck.

Year 10 GCSE Art students are taking part in an Artist Workshop at school on Tuesday 9 December. This is an exciting opportunity for students to learn new techniques and find out about careers and portfolio presentation from an artist/designer.

The next Parent Forum meeting will be held in the LRC on Thursday 11 December from 6:00pm onwards. New and existing members are welcome to attend. For more information regarding the Parent Forum, please contact school.

Year 11 students completing the IGCSE English course will be assessed on their Individual Speaking presentations between 26 and 29 January 2015. Students will receive a personal time and venue for their assessment in due course. Please encourage any students involved in this assessment to use their time wisely and start preparing for it now.
