Beech House School

Date published: 02 December 2014

Year 7 pupils went to view the exhibition ‘Talking Heads’.

The exhibition features faces from the past as well as the present. From celebrities such as Gracie Fields to philanthropists like Thomas Watson, each portrait tells us about themselves and what these people have done for the town of Rochdale.

The purpose of this visit was for Year 7 pupils to understand and appreciate the wonderful range of art styles and approaches artists use in Portraiture. This was certainly a delightful insight to portraits which links well with their current school project ‘Self-Image’

Beech House travelled to Wavertree with 28 pupils to compete in the ISA Northern Area Swimming Championships.

The Beech House team had some outstanding successes with the Year 7 Boys becoming double relay Champions winning both freestyle and medley relays. The team consisted of: Luke Ashworth, Adam Millington, Deazal Fairhurst, Alex Young and Luke Butterworth.

The school performed well throughout but were medalists in lots of events.

Swimmers of the day were Alex Young for his relay performances and outstanding breaststroke silver.

Jack Cryer was again fantastic but he was pipped twice to Gold Medals in Freestyle and Butterfly strokes.

The Senior Freestyle team of James Hart, Sam Clutton, Rohan Young and Jack Cryer were silver medalists.

The school is now awaiting the national finals list of swimmers to see how many pupils have been successful enough to represent the North of England in the Olympic Pool (London) later on in the school year.

Four year 2 pupils travelled to Cardinal Langley to compete in the U7 Rochdale Gymnastics championships. Anais Aston, Safaa Delawala, Eesa Chudhary & Adham Rafique all performed really well in the Vault, Body Management and floor routine. Well done to those pupils.
