The Humanities Department are accompanying 50 pupils to the Battlefields of Europe. Mr Hargreaves has asked that if families have connections with Ypres or the Somme and wish for photographs to be taken at graves or memorial cards placed there to contact him at school.

Football

Year 9 boys Fabio Tavares, Peter Winyard and Kyle Humphrey represented Greater Manchester County at football last weekend playing against Lancashire. A game they lost but a tremendous achievement to be representing the county. Well done.

Rehearsals for Annie

This week we see the final rehearsals for Annie, the cast and staff being in school on Sunday doing a full run through before Thursday’s First Night performance.

Year 9 tutor groups along with their tutors and Kath Ansley have been enjoying Days of Reflection at Just Youth in Kersal Salford. Here they have taken part in activities which have encouraged them to think about their place in society and their aspirations for the future.

Mock week is drawing to a close for Y11, results will be published on the morning of Thursday 29th January in readiness for parents evening.

Year 7 News

7:6 had the highest attendance last week Vivos have been issued to all in the form – well done

Stars of the week were: Adelaide Cotu, James Clarkson, Mollie Dunne, Joshua Duke, Aleesha McCoy, Bethany Hopley, Alexander Brogan and Joe Baker each receiving Vivo points.

Year 7 raised £309 for their Advent Charities many thanks to pupils, parents and form tutors for this support.

The prayer theme for the week is peace alongside the daily prayer “Stay with us Lord on our journey” from Bishop John Arnold

The Enterprise theme for the week is Improving own learning

The literacy focus is words containing ‘gh’

Please can parents and carers ensure that we have up to date contact numbers, as many as possible, as we have had an incident where home, work and mobile numbers were out of date and we could not contact a parent. Thankfully it was not an emergency situation.
In the case of heavy snowfall during the night please look at the school website or RMBC Schools website.
