Mission Week 9-13 February

In preparation for our mission week we were delighted to welcome Seminarian, Gavin Landers, into school on Tuesday. Gavin is in his fifth year of training to be a priest at Oscott College near Birmingham.

He shared the story of his faith journey so far with pupils throughout the day and spoke in a most entertaining way about vocation and how we can all become Saints of the New Millenium if we listen to what God wants for us. He met with our Pupil Chaplains and Liturgy Music group at luchtime and gave them great encouragement in their ministry. We will continue to keep Gavin and those in training for the priest hood in our prayers.

Safer Internet Day Tuesday 10 February

Next week St. Cuthbert’s Year 7 students will be taking part in a video broadcast and question and answer session aimed at increasing their awareness of Safer Internet Day which is held the following week on Tuesday 10 February.
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Globally, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries, coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and 31 national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. Ultimately, a better internet is up to us!
