Chinese teachers visit Heybrook Primary School

Date published: 10 February 2015

On Wednesday 4 February a delegation of 25 Chinese teachers visited Heybrook Primary School to look at the educational provision of the school.

The teachers had won a state level award for Primary education from their province, Zhejiang province, which is south of Shanghai.

The visit was organised by Manchester University Institute of Education and the Manchester Business School.

The visit was a great honour for the delegation and for Heybrook.

It began with Heybrook’s choir singing a song ‘Welcome to Heybrook’ in Chinese.

The delegation was particularly interested in the development of Primary education in England, the experience and practice of small group teaching, educational leadership and how schools communicate with parents and the local community.

The teachers were enthusiastic and interested in what they observed at Heybrook.

Many of the teachers could speak English and were able to ask detailed questions about the educational provision at Heybrook and the educational system. The visit was a great success.

It is likely that Heybrook will have a direct link with a school in Zhejiang to share good practice.
