A number of our students entered the Young Writers national poetry competition and the great news is that the school is celebrating several regional winners!

Their poems have now been published in an anthology of poetry entitled 'War of Words: The Midlands and the North.'

Winners include: Madihah Aslam, Sarah Down, Aqsa Hussain, Emily Cavanah, Loren Brand, Thomas Booth, Maryam Sardar, Caitlin Rea, Zara Bradley-Ahmed, Aysha Jamil, Hussaam Faheem and Rachael Wilson.

Well done to all! Madihah Aslam’s poem, entitled 'The Girl You Once Knew' has been chosen by the judges as being the best poem in the anthology, congratulations Madihah!

On Saturday 14 February, Jonni Allen will showcase the new Oulder Hill Rugby shirt, designed by himself and fellow students, at the England v Italy Six Nations match at Twickenham.

Congratulations to the U14’s Rochdale 5-a-side champions, who were crowned having won the finals at Falinge Park last week.

The team beat Falinge 3-2, and then beat Hollingworth 3-2. They then lost 2-0 to Falinge and won their final game 4-1 against Hollingworth.

The team was as follows: Goalkeeper Thomas Booth, Matthew Greenwood (4 goals), Hakeem Gbajabiamila (2 goals), Hayden Lewis (2 goals), Dayne Stewart (1 goal), Bailey Turner (1 goal) and Danny Devine. Well done!

From Friday 20 to Sunday 22 February, 24 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 will be visiting Berlin on a History trip with Mrs Tarran, Mr Holt and Miss Ward. They will be visiting Sachsenhausen concentration camp, the Olympic Stadium, topography of terror, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Holocaust memorial and the German History Museum. This will help the students with their GCSE Studies on this unit.

Oulder Hill closes for the half term break on Friday 13 February. School re-opens to students on Tuesday 24 February at 8:30am, due to a staff INSET Day on the Monday.
