Our winning football team!

This is our winning football team. They have beaten 42 teams for a place in the regional final at Crewe. If they win this they will go to Wembley for the final!! They have been asked to play at Rochdale Football Club at half time on Saturday 7 March. Kick off is at 3pm. All support is welcome!! The team recently won a 5 a side trophy and were praised for their sportsmanship and tremendous ability.

The learning challenge curriculum

This month we are featuring Y3 with Jayden Mckendrey showing her exploding volcano. This is part of their Learning challenge which is, ‘What makes the earth so angry?’

March is a very busy month and we will be having Parents evenings on 2nd and 3rd, World book day on the 5th and Mothers Day Surprise room on 13th.

This is the same day as Red Nose Day! Many parents find it easier to donate to Red Nose Day through school rather than going to the bank or post office. We are very happy to send any money we collect for this wonderful charity day to Comic Relief for you. This year, we are inviting children to wear a funny face! They can use face paint or a mask! There is NO CHARGE for this event, although you are welcome to donate through us if you want to. We have sold out of our red noses already!

During the day on Friday 13 March children will be able to spend £2.00 on a present of their choice for their Mum or special lady. The PTFA have a wide range of presents for £2.00 and will wrap them for the children.

Christmas Jumper Day

We have just received a certificate from Save the Children for our Christmas Jumper Day which raised £135. Thank you to everyone who put on their Christmas jumper.

World Book Day

This year we are celebrating world book day on March 5 by dressing up as a favourite character from our favourite book and bringing this book into school to share( if we have it!). Children are not obliged to dress up if they don’t want to. You are NOT asked to donate any money although you are welcome to send in any coins to help us buy more books for school.
Book Fair Week
Next week is Book fair week. For your convenience we have coincided it with parents’ evenings, from 3.15pm until 4.45pm and all week, to match up with World Book Day. You are most welcome to come and browse and buy from the great range of books!
Key Stage One and Two are asking for any spare clothes for children who may need a change of clothes during the day. We are also on the lookout for any dolls or games you don’t need, for wet play times.

Pancake toss

Monday 9 February the PTFA Pancake Toss was a great success! So far we have raised £1242 with more to come in. Many children won prizes for their fabulous fundraising and pancake tossing efforts.

Springhill hospice charity star!

Springy from Springhill Hospice came to give George Holt a prize for raising £110 for their worthy cause. Well done George!

Science Show 6 February - The magic of Science!

On 6 February all children enjoyed a Science show which was funded by the PTFA.
Hopefully there will be no more snow- but just in case, here is a reminder of arrangements;

Severe weather conditions

In very severe weather, we may have to temporarily close the school. The responsibility for this decision lies with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors. We will always try to open or partially open and provide as full a provision as possible. Closure of school is a last resort once all other options have been considered. However the decision will need to be based on the safety and/or welfare of the pupils and staff. The council’s website www.rochdale.gov.uk/snow is the single point of reference, drawing together the latest and most accurate information on all services affected by snow or severe weather. We will always text you immediately. We will also text everyone to say we are open, if that is the case, in bad weather. This worked well last week.
