Sports news

St. John’s represented Rochdale in athletics and hockey at the Inter-Borough Games held at the ETIHAD Stadium (Manchester City ground) on Tuesday. The team were placed 8 out of 20 and are very proud of their achievement and enjoyed taking part.

Carlos from Crown class was one of only six children chosen to participate in the opening ceremony with athlete Kelly Massey. Carlos had the important role of passing the baton to Kelly and was watched by thousands of people including all the Mayors and their representatives from boroughs of Greater Manchester as well as live coverage by Key103 radio.

Carlos was chosen for his improved endeavour in literacy, numeracy and PE.

New kit for our football team

Our football team have a new kit which is proudly modelled by some of our players in the picture on the left.

Girl’s football tournament took place on Monday 16 March at St. Mary’s School.
Our team won 2 and drew 2 matches.

Mr Hickman is the proud new captain of Springfield Park Golf Club for 2015.

Reading test success

Caitlin and Abdel from class Tutu scored a level 2A in their reading test, this is above the national standard for their age group and both have worked very hard to achieve this level. We are so proud of them.

Parent/teacher meetings

Parent/teacher meetings will take place on Tuesday, 31 March between 3pm and 7pm. Please ensure you return your appointment slip to the class teacher to book your time.

Homework and afterschool clubs will not run on this day.

Coffee afternoon for CAFOD

Come and join us for a coffee and cake afternoon to raise funds for CAFOD on Tuesday, 31 March between 2pm and 3pm.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for an Easter Hamper, the draw will take place on the last day of term. All proceeds to CAFOD.

Money matters

The school will close at 3pm on Wednesday 1 April. Please ensure all dinner money, nursery fees, homework, afterschool and breakfast clubs are paid up to date before the close of school. Thank you.

End of term holiday

The school will close at 3pm on Wednesday 1 April and return on Monday 20 April for the summer term.

Sacramental programme First reconciliation took place at St. John’s Church on Thursday 12 March. Unit 5 “We are the people who follow Jesus”, Sunday 3 May at 9.30am at St. John’s church.
