Alkrington Primary School

Staff changes

Mrs Booth will be leaving us at the end of next week. She has been the class teacher in Class 2B. We wish her success in her chosen future venture and thank her for her hard work at Alkrington, covering the maternity leaves of Mrs Roberts in Reception and Miss Morgan in Y2. Mrs Shrives will replace Mrs Booth in Y2.

Mr Knipe returns from his paternity leave at the end of next week and will take over from Mr Perrins in Class 3P. Mr Perrins will resume his role as Art Coordinator, delivering art lessons throughout the school, whilst teachers have their planning and assessment (PPA) time.

‘Ooh La La’ Rehearsals for the French Show, to be performed by Y3, 4 & 5 children are in full swing, ready for their performances on Tuesday 31 March and Wednesday 1 April at 7pm.

A letter has been sent out with information about tickets for the show, which are, for safety reasons, restricted to 2 per family. If you need to know more, ask at the school office. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is here each evening to take their part in what promises to be a terrific show!

Crossing Patrol

We have been informed that there will not be a lollipop lady on duty at the Kingsway/Kirkway crossroads from Wednesday 25 March until Monday 20 April.

Attendance Ted was shared by 1M and 5H who both had 99.3% attendance last week.

On Time Ted was won by 4A - who had no children late for school – Well Done!!

Easter Competitions

We will be holding our Easter competitions next week. Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children are asked to make and decorate an Easter bonnet. Children in Key Stage 2 can decorate an egg. Entries should be brought into school on Thursday 2 April – prizes will be awarded to the winning entries!

Parking problems

Please can we ask that parents/carers do not park across residents driveways. A Renault Captur MB63 VEX unfortunately blocked a driveway recently and the owner of the house could not get out to attend an appointment. There are also parents who continue to park on the pavements and where the school and double yellow line marking are, which is both illegal and puts our children in danger. Please could we ask you to show some common sense and consideration – Thank you.

Summer Uniform

Children can wear our summer uniform after the Easter holidays if they wish. Boys and girls can wear the pale blue polo shirts which are available from the school office at a cost of £7.95. Girls may wear blue gingham dresses if they wish. Black shoes remain part of school uniform in the summer, of course.

Dinner money

As school closes on Thursday next week, dinner money is £8. The correct change would be appreciated. As next week is the end of the financial year please could all dinner monies be sent to school on Monday 30 March. Thank you for your co-operation.

School Council

Last week 4 members of our school council, Aimee Bonar, Heidi Taylor, Sean O’Keefe and Daniel Holt, attended a Peer Assessment conference at Broadfield Primary School in Rochdale. The children behaved in an exemplary manner and represented our school and their parents commendably.

Don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets from the Junior Hall at break time each morning – lots of prizes to be won! Just 20p a ticket.
