Summer Clubs Programme

We have recently received confirmation that the funding cuts imposed on the local authority will have an impact on the funding we receive to provide the Redwood summer holiday club programme. We are still involved in a series of discussions to ascertain whether we will be able to fund the programme which takes place for three weeks in July and August. As soon as I receive clarification I will inform parents and carers of the outcomes. Clearly it is something I wish to preserve as short break opportunities for families.

Dates to note

The summer term is always busy with a great deal of activities taking place across the school. I would like to highlight the summer term parents consultation sessions which will allow you to find out more about the plans for your son / daughter`s progress and transition for September:

Friday 3 July: Annual Report to all parents / carers
Tuesday 7 July: Years 7,8 & 9 Parents Evening
Tuesday 14 July: Years 10, 11 and Post 16 Parents Evening

Internship Employment Offers

It is fantastic news to hear that another two of our internees have been offered full time employment as a result of their work, commitment and general attitude to their placement. Tommy and Tom have both been offered employment and I know that everybody connected with the internship programme are absolutely delighted as are their parents and carers. Well done, you are great ambassadors for the school.

Health and Well Being Awards evening
Thursday 9 July 7pm : Health and Well Being Team Awards presentation will take place at the Gracie Fields Theatre and will be an opportunity to share the successes of the whole school in a variety of awards.

RedAid 3 July

Year 8/9 Green, Yellow & the Lilac group have enjoyed learning about the Solar System and 8/9 Green are discovering more about our Moon and all the Planets we travel in Space with.

The Rewards System in KS3 has been a great success in its first week. During assembly on Wednesday lots of pupils received prizes as they had managed to get 5 Redwood stickers or more on their individual charts in the last couple of weeks. Some prizes included stickers, body stickers, bubbles, balls, stationary punch balloons, toy cars, toy skateboards, crisps chocolate just to name a few.

KS5

Students from 5F went to Moorland Home for the day, and there was room in the bus for Nasima and Patrick from 5AB. They had great weather and spent time outside on the trampoline and meeting the hens and the horses. There was even time for a kick about. Nasima said she liked the slide.
The staff were really welcoming and made a lovely dinner. It was a great day out.

When we went to The Cherwell Centre we were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t meet all the animals because the vet was coming to give them their injections, but we did get to meet the tortoise.

We were practicing our manners and meeting new people. Luckily, Georgina came over to introduce herself and we perfected the art of shaking hands.

Key Stage 4 students came to visit 6th form as part of their transition. Shama, Khadijah and Imran helped the newsletter group. Damon, Patrick and Nasima made them welcome and showed them how we add borders and crop photos.

Student of the Week
Qudsiyyah for being helpful towards her friends and staff.

Most Improved Student
Nasima for improved verbal communication– that means she’s been chattier.
