After School Child Care

As you will know, ‘Happy Days’ currently use our premises to provide before and after school care for pupils at Alkrington Primary School. They use the Community Rooms at the end of the building.

The school Governing Body have given notice to the operators at Happy Days that as from 1 January 2016 the school will take over use of this part of our building and school will provide before and after school child care.

If you want to register your interest in a place for your child you can do so at the school office. Further details will follow in due course.

Class Photographs

The class photographs are on display in the window near the main office. Your child brought home an envelope for you to place your order. Please return your order by Friday 12 June.

Attendance Ted was won by 3K who had 99% attendance last week.

On Time Ted was won by 6M - who had no children late for school – Well Done.

Summer Fair

To help with the Fair we shall be having a Non-Uniform Day on Friday 12 June.

Children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 are asked to bring cakes. Children in Years 2-5 are asked to bring sweets. Children in Year 6 are asked to bring lollies.

If anyone can help out on a stall please could they let the school office know.
Thank you very much for all your support.

PE Kit

Please can we remind parents that children need their PE kit in school. Children should wear:
White or dark T-shirt; Dark shorts; Trainers or pumps;

Bobbles

Please can you make sure your child has their long hair tied back before they come to school if necessary. At the moment we are providing bobbles for those children who need one but as we are giving out so many this may have to be reviewed, possibly making a charge in the future. Thank you.

Holidays in Term Time

I wrote to parents at the end of the last school year to inform you that any request for time off school for a holiday will not be authorised by the school and will be recorded as

‘Unauthorised Absence’

If any child has more than a specified number of such absences in a school year for holidays then a Fixed Penalty Fine will be issued, the current rate is £20 per parent per child per day.

Name Tags / Labels in School Uniform

You may well be thinking about school uniform for the new school year, so if you are please note that our school has linked up with a company who supply name tags, and school will benefit with a commission if our parents use this service.
Take a look at www.MyNametags.com and if you place an order use the school code which is: 64594

Staying Safe on the Internet

This week children in Y5 and Y6 have been involved with representatives from Childline and they have been working on a programme of safety awareness, including online.
It has come to my attention this week that some pupils at our school have been the subject of unwanted attention from adults via ‘SnapChat’ who were posing as children. The parent concerned contacted the police and the matter has been dealt with without any further harm.

I urge all parents to be vigilant about their child(ren)’s use of social media and the internet and if they have any concerns contact the police
