Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 05 June 2015

Every class in school has taken part in a dance project at Hamer this week, combining interpretive dance with literacy and global citizenship themes. Jo Aspinall, who has devised and led the workshops, was very complimentary to the Head about the behaviour and participation of Hamer children.

This week, our Community Cohesion Ambassadors team met with their colleagues from Marland Hill and the Sixth Form Students to write their speeches which they will go on to make at the town hall to express their vision for the future of Rochdale. Well done Team!

On Thursday this week, the Early Years Team organised for some very special visitors to come to Hamer – the farm! We had cows, rabbits, sheep and goats and the children were able to learn about the physical qualities and useful function of the different animals. We were even allowed to stroke the baby goats and see how their horns were starting to grow. What an experience!

Please can parents encourage the children to take part at home in the activities they can find at the Maths Stop next to the Monster Maths Board on the red corridor. Winners will be awarded a certificate and prize in assembly and the activities all help to support the problem solving strand of Maths, which is an increasingly important part of the Maths Curriculum. Thank you, as always, to parents for your support at home with learning.

Can we please encourage all parents and children to log onto the website and have a look at the Year 6 writing about Pirates which is appearing on their class blog. Not just parents of Year 6, but all parents will be bowled over to see the level of writing being produced by our children by the time they leave and even if your child is currently in Early Years, it is always useful to see where they are heading by the end of the Hamer part of their journey. Their writing is fantastic and we are all so proud of the children. Year 6 Show

Auditions took place at lunchtime today for our Year 6 show......Watch this space!

Uniform Reminder
Please remember that children should wear black school shoes, not trainers and not boots. Also, girl’s headbands and clips should be plain and discreet, i.e.: no bright colours or bling please. Thank you.
