Siddal Moor students, staff and 2 dogs reach the summit of Pendle Hill

Date published: 09 June 2015

53 Siddal Moor students, 16 staff and 2 dogs set off on the challenge to reach the summit of Pendle Hill in aid of this year’s school charity Manchester Children’s Hospital on Saturday, 6 June.

Steve Walmsley, Redgrave House Co-ordinator and Organiser of the event could not praise the efforts of the students and staff enough: “For the third year running, and with the biggest group so far, Siddal Moor have climbed Pendle Hill.

“To reach the summit, the group had to battle strong winds and steep inclines. The weather was kind to all and everyone managed to stay dry even if they were a little cold.

“A special thank you goes to Anthony Turner, the lead walker who accompanied us on the day and got us to the top and down again safely.”

On reaching the bottom, students and staff tucked into much needed sandwiches that had been made by the schools dinner ladies that morning.

Mr Walmsley said: “I would like to thank all the students and staff that attended on the day and a special thank you to all the people who sponsored this popular event.

“The final total of money raised for the event is hoped to be in excess of £500.00.”
