‘Dress up and dance’ day at Woodland Primary

Date published: 19 June 2015

It was leg-warmers at the ready on Friday 16 June at Woodland Community Primary School.

Staff and children dressed up for Macmillan’s ‘Dress up and dance’ day to raise money for the Macmillan cancer charity. Everyone made a superb effort with their outfits and was very generous with their donations, raising almost £300 for the charity.

The day got off to an energetic start when teacher Paige Roebuck put children, parents and staff through their paces with an early morning zumba workout on the yard before school.

During the school day classes continued the fun with extra dance slots at playtime and fun classroom activities too.

Head teacher Mrs Nicola Brogan said: "This is a wonderful example of the way in which schools and the community can come together to support fantastic charities such as Macmillan.

"We’ve had a great day full of fun and laughter, the children look amazing and we’ve raised money for a very worthwhile charity."
