RedAid

What a great whole school creative arts day this week with students using textiles, making bracelets, pottery, card making, cooking, creating I Pad phone covers to sell at the RedAid Day on July 3. Also the AGM for RedAid is to take place on Wednesday 1 July at 3.30pm and all are welcome to attend.

Nomination for Award

The school received confirmation this week that we have been shortlisted for the 'Healthy Living Award` as part of the Manchester Evening News Awards. The ceremony will take place on Friday 10 July at 12pm at The Hilton Hotel on Deansgate and staff and a group of students will attend to see if we have been successful. This is another confirmation of the work school does to support our youngsters healthy lifestyles.

Health and Well Being Awards evening

Please remember that this special evening will take place on Thursday 9 July at 7pm at the Gracie Fields Theatre and will be an opportunity to share the successes of the whole school in a variety of awards, sports related and achievements of the entire school population. Please try your best to attend this special event which gives us the opportunity to listen and admire the successes of our youngsters.

Parent Consultation sessions / Annual Reports

A reminder that the parents consultation sessions will take place on the following dates:
Years 7,8 and 9 – Tuesday 7 July
Years 10 & 11 – Tuesday 14 July
Post 16 – Tuesday 14 July
To follow up the annual review / My Plan review meetings already held during this academic year, an annual report will be sent to parents on Friday 3 July prior to the meetings.

Student Council

Members of the Student Council will take part in a consultation meeting on Tuesday 30 June 9.15am with the local authority on the proposals for the building extension developments and the plans for the Redwood Education and Enterprise Centre ( REEC ). Details will be fed back next week.

Internship Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony will take place at the REEC on Wednesday 15 July, 6.30pm – 8.00pm, and this will be an opportunity to congratulate the students and staff on their amazing achievements during the year on the Internship Programme.

Post 16 residential

Despite a couple of issues which have occurred which could not be planned for, the students and staff are enjoying their trip to Rhodes sampling cultural aspects and some hot and sunny weather. We wish them a safe trip home on Friday.

KS3

The whole of the Key Stage 3 department have been enjoying activities in preparation for Red Aid day next Friday 3 July. Activities pupils have taken part in are baking, pottery, making jewellery, decorations and other homemade gifts, in addition to labelling up tombola and raffle prizes and batik (wax work).
 
Randstad indoor athletics sports day was enjoyed by Mo and Haroon who performed excellently and fantastic ambassadors to the school at The City of Manchester Stadium.
 
8/9 Green are loving acting out scenes from 'The Phantom of the Opera' which they are studying in Performing Arts. They are getting to know the characters, learning lines and selecting costumes. In music they are participating in vocal and instrumental workshops working towards an ‘in-house’ performance showcasing all Arts skills.
The Monday cooking club have been making selections of biscuits and brownies to sell on Tuesdays to raise money for their end of term meal out. Pupils involved in cookery club from KS3 include Martin, Chloe, Shaun, Ubaid, Safiya, Luke and Lille-Rose
 
KS4

Mrs Tasker’s class have been making fimo minions. They are going to be made into keyrings and earrings to be sold at the RED-AID Fun Day. So if you want minion accessories you know where to get them from.
 
The Bridging Year went Go Karting and to Pizza Hut for their end of year trip. Check out the racing results. 

KS5

The Music groups have been working on accompanying clips of film with appropriate sounds and instruments. Group 2 has been working on Peter and the Wolf.
 
Nasima and Patrick represented Redwood 6th form at the Randstad Sports Event, held at Sports City. Top activities were the hopping and the throwing.
 
In sensory maths we have been looking at times in the year and what better than holiday time. We took a sensory visit to the beach and enjoyed paddling, exploring sand and shells and relaxing in the sun.

Nurjahan for displaying a wicked sense of humour, working hard on the bunting and joining in well with her part in Music
 
Most improved student
Kenny for being independent and self propelling without prompts.
